Prophecy-class Assault Frigates first saw construction and combat during the Reclaiming of the Core Systems in second year of the Empire. They were the first vessel designed and manufactured by the state-owned corporation Imperial Forgeworks. The Prophecy is getting old by starship terms, but is extremely resilient and still sees significant use. The Prophecy has a larger number of weapon emplacements than the more-commonly used Harbinger Frigate, and carries significantly more shielding and armor, but has a slower rate of fire and maneuverability due to the increased demands on the power system.

Service & Requisition[]

While they bear little resemblance in appearance, Prophecy-class Assault Frigates are a design modification of the old Alliance Sabre-class Heavy Frigate. The refits and chassis adjustments were expensive and time-consuming, but the Prophecy was considered to be a very effective combat warship. Though these warships were the first unique design to the Empire, the Federation and numerous other Alliance remnant nations made major efforts to acquire them - a rather ironic reversal of fortune.

While the name of the class is Prophecy, they are commonly referred to by Empire and foreign soldiers alike as simply "Assault Frigs" due to their ubiquitous use throughout human-controlled space. The largest design change in the new Prophecy line of vessels was a radical reduction in crew complement. The introduction of droids and automated systems lowered the crew count from over 500 to below 250. The other major modification was to remove the internal docking capacity of the Sabre, and to instead equip it with 20 umbilical docking fixtures on the outer hull. These fixtures cannot carry other ships through hyperspace, but allows for the emergency docking, repair, and refuel of fighters, bombers, or assault shuttles launched by other craft in the area. In this capacity, Prophecy-class Assault Frigates act as back-up platforms for squadron craft in a larger fleet engagement.

The Prophecy also has less armor than the heavily-plated Sabre, but compensates with significant increases in meson shielding, along with a secondary shield array to the front of the vessel, allowing heavy protracted forward assaults on enemy ships. The Prophecy-class can generally engage head-on with an enemy Cruiser and survive, though it is rarely recommended.

Access to the Prophecy Assault Frigate outside of the Imperial Navy is obviously impossible, but it can be commissioned by members of the Nobility at a cost of Φ32,590,000. A minimum rank of Baronet is required to request the vessel from Imperial High Command.
